If I were a poem
I’d wrap you in my verses
Keeping you warm on cold lonely nights
With hope, love and a little bit
Of something to dream.

If I were a poem
I’d caress you with my words
On nights you wake up screaming
And sweating, off a nightmare;
Walking you through the difficult times.

If I were a poem,
I’d bury stars between my words
So every time you take a whiff, with the
Ink and vellichor, you’d inhale the universe
That brought us together.

If I were a poem
I’d pull out strands from the sun
And braid it through my pages
So every time you touch me, your
Fingertips stain with light and wishes.

If I were a poem
You’d never get rid of me
I will rot in every inch of your skin
Like the memoirs of first love
Like the memories of a dead love.
