Awantipora Police on Friday claimed to have arrested two militant associates of Ansar Gazwat Ul Hind and Hizbul Mujahideen from Tral and Awantipora areas who are involved in providing shelter, support, logistics and passing sensitive information to the militants of proscribed outfit AuGH and HM.

Restrictions were imposed in southern Kashmir's Pulwama district after a militant, belonging to the area, was killed in the Nawa Kadal gunfight yesterday.

Director General of J&K Police, Dilbagh Singh on Tuesday said that one of the two slain militants in Nawa Kadal encounter have been identified as Hizbul Mujahideen’s divisional commander for central Kashmir Junaid Sehrai, the son of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai.

Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter with a joint team of Police and CRPF in Kanimazar area of Nawakadal here on Tuesday.

Two militants were killed in Gundna area in Doda district while a Army man was also killed in the encounter that broke out between government forces and militants on Sunday morning.

J&K Police said that it busted a hideout in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday.

Hizb-ul-Mujahideen on Sunday paid rich tributes to slain militant commander Riyaz Naikoo and his associate who got killed in a recent encounter in Pulwama and also appointed new operational head for J&K.

A hamlet in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district has been brought multiple times under siege from the past one week. The hamlet is Durnu that falls in Dooru town of the district.
