PULWAMA — A nocturnal gunfight raged between militants and government forces in Pinglena area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.

Reports reaching here said that a joint team of Army’s 55RR, CRPF and SOG Pulwama launched a cordon and search operation in Pinglena area after having credible input about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter.

A senior police official said that a brief exchange of firing took place between militants and goverment forces during which three Army men sustained injuries, news agency GNS reported.

All the three injured have been shifted to 92 Base hospital Badami Bagh for treatment, the officer said.

The officer further said the firing has stopped as off now and search operation is going on at the encounter site.

Meanwhile, the reports said that the trapped militants belong to Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.
