Pulwama: Health employees working under the ‘National Health Mission’ Thursday held a protest demonstration in Pulwama demanding implementation of a regularization policy and Supreme Court guidelines for salaries.

Chanting slogans, the employees assembled outside District Hospital Pulwama and protested to press for their demands.

“We are demanding job security, financial security and social security which affects the well-being of our families,” one of the protesting employees said.

Another employee said, “We have approached the authorities several times in the previous years but nothing moved them which has forced us to protest.”

“During the Assembly session, the then Health Minister Bali Bhagat had said that a proposal for phased regularization of NHM employees had been sent to the Finance Department for approval but the file continues to gather dust,” another protesting employee said.

When asked about the hardship caused to the patients, a woman employee said, “We can’t really help it as we have been let down by the government. Unless our demands are met, we will have to continue with the protest demonstrations.”
