Pulwama: Three civilians were injured in security forces’ action who had launched a cordon and search operation in Karimabad village of Pulwama.

The civilians were injured as forces fired at protesters who were allegedly blocking their movement.

Sources said the clashes between residents of Karimabad and a patrol party of Army resulted in the civilians receiving bullet injuries.

The injured were identified as Tanveer Ahmad (40), Faiz Ahmad (12) and Sajad Ahmad (26).

Sources said Faiz Farooq, a teenager, received a bullet wound in his hip, Tanveer Ahmad and Sajad Ahmad received a bullet in their legs and were shifted to a local hospital.

After receiving first aid in District Hospital Pulwama, the injured were shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment. “We shifted them to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar,” a medical worker said. They are said to be stable now.

Locals said the Army fired at the crowds as people tried to resist a cordon and search operation. But a top police officer in the district said that it was a regular Army patrol and there was no search or cordon operation.

Meanwhile, the CASO ended after intense clashes between the protestors and security forces.
