Pulwama: Youth in Kareemabad village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district today burned Indian flag during a protest demonstration.

The protesters, mostly youth, were shouting pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans during the protest demonstration.

Banners, displaying images of Kashmiri militants, were put up by the youth who were also waiving Pakistani flags.

The video of this protest has gone viral on social networking websites with thousands of people sharing the video on WhatsApp and Facebook.

It is pertinent to mention that a militant was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Kulgam district of south Kashmir earlier today.

A police official said that Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Ishfaq Ahmad Padder, resident of Machiwa Yaripora, was killed in a firefight with 62 RR and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The slain militant was involved in the killing of 22-year-old Army officer Umar Fayaz in Shopian, said a police spokesman.

Meanwhile, violent clashes broke out between youth and government forces in many parts of the valley.

Clashes were reported from Anantnag town of south Kashmir and Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla. Minor clashes were also reported from Pulwama town.

Forces’ personnel used tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters, an official said, adding that there were no reports of anyone getting injured.
