PULWAMA — The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) has recorded its highest-ever annual admissions in 2026, with more than 2,000 students admitted across 100 academic programmes, marking an increase of around 10% over the previous year.
The university said the admission figure could rise further as the admission process for B.Tech programmes designed for working professionals is still underway. Its overall seat occupancy currently stands at approximately 91.7%.
IUST said admissions have doubled since 2022, alongside an increase of more than 100% in the number of programmes offered during the period.
Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Dean of Academic Affairs at IUST, attributed the growth in admissions across programmes to the efforts of the university’s faculty. “Increase in admissions across programmes is a testimony to the hard work of IUST faculty,” Bashir said.
He congratulated the university’s stakeholders and expressed his commitment to academic excellence.
The university offers programmes in engineering, sciences, architecture, humanities, social sciences, management, computer applications, food technology, nursing and paramedical sciences.
Its academic offerings also include emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, geospatial technologies, robotics and automation.
