Srinagar: A live operative workshop on “Modern Techniques in Rhinoplasty” was conducted by the ENT Unit of District Hospital Pulwama under the aegis of Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK).
The event was inaugurated by Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman who was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a plastic surgery procedure for correcting and reconstructing the form, restoring the functions and aesthetically enhancing the nose by resolving nasal trauma, congenital defect, respiratory impediment or a failed primary Rhinoplasty.
During the live workshop, three advanced Rhinoplasty surgeries were performed by Consultant ENT, Dr. Shafqat-ul-Islam. The surgeries were telecasted live to the audience which comprised of ENT and Plastic Surgeons of GMC Srinagar, SKIMS and Peripheral Hospitals of the valley.
This academic event was first of its kind ever held in District Hospital Pulwama.
The officers of the Directorate and Chief Medical Officer Pulwama also attended the workshop.
“The event will go a long way in creating academic environment in peripheral hospitals, besides helping the doctors in acquiring the newer trends and advanced surgical skills which will benefit the patients,” said an attending doctor.
Director Health Services Kashmir in his inaugural speech stressed for the significance of conducting such academic events routinely for better patient care.
He also appreciated the efforts of Dr Akhtar Ganai, Organising Secretary, Academic Committee DHSK, Dr Irfan ul Shamas, Organizing Secretary Rhinoplasty Workshop and Dr AR Parra, MS DH Pulwama and his team in making this event a success. (KNS)
