PULWAMA — Police in Pulwama reported the arrest of an alleged over-ground worker (OGW) for Hizbul Mujahideen on Saturday as part of an ongoing investigation tied to a recent explosives case.
Sajad Ahmed Dar son of Nazir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Tahab, Pulwama, was taken into custody during a joint operation by Pulwama Police, the Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) 182nd Battalion.
Authorities apprehended Sajad in the Dangerpora area following disclosures made by another suspect arrested last month, according to Pulwama Police.
During questioning, Sajad reportedly revealed the location of hidden weapons inside his shop, leading to the recovery of a pistol, a magazine with 12 rounds, and two live grenades, which were seized at the scene, police said.
The investigation stems from an earlier arrest on October 29, when Danish Bashir Ahangar, another alleged Hizbul Mujahideen operative, was detained with explosives.
Both cases are being pursued under FIR No. 224/2024, registered under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosives Act and sections 18 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Further arrests and seizures are anticipated as the investigation continues.
