On the sidelines of interaction, BJP Municipality Committee Chairman for Devsar Mushtaq Ahmed created ruckus for not nominating him for the COVID-19 award. Insiders said that Mushtaq Ahmed created ugly scenes and accused District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz and ACD Kulgam, Muhammad Imran Khan of ‘bias and fraud’.

“This BJP man shouted at DDC and ACD Kulgam in front of all. He was claiming that he worked very hard in this COVID-19 pandemic and was expecting an award but the ACD Kulgam didn’t nominate him,” said a Panch from Devsar Block.

An official wishing anonymity said that Independent Block Development Chairman from Pahlu Block of Kulgam, Javaid Ahmed Shaksaz was supposed to receive the award, but it was cancelled after the ugly scenes created by BJP Municipality Committee Chairman.

“We didn’t hand over the award to Mr Shaksaz as it would have created trouble. Shaksaz has done a fabulous job in the COVID-19 pandemic without publicizing his efforts,” the official said.
