Srinagar: Police have suspended a cop and ordered an internal probe over thrashing of a senior police officer’s father in Tral town of Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

“We have suspended a policeman and ordered an internal inquiry into the incident. If someone else will found involved in the beating of police officer’s father in Tral today, action will be taken against them also,” SP Awantipora Mohammad Zahid Malik told GNS.

Police action comes in wake of a serious allegation levelled by a sub-inspector that his father was beaten up for not producing his driving license.

“They abused my father, thrashed him and broke his right arm just because he told the cops his son too was a police officer,” Ahmad said.
