J&K Police refutes reports of Internet gag in south Kashmir

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday termed reports regarding Internet gag in south Kashmir as “baseless”.

In a statement, police spokesperson termed the reports as “misleading” and also said action will be initiated against those spreading false information.

“…Some unscrupulous elements are updating wrong information that internet services will be shut down in south Kashmir which is far from the truth. These reports are highly mischievous and misleading. Hence refuted. Action will be taken against such elements,” read the police statement.

Pertinently, a Jammu based newspaper reported that plans were afoot to restrict internet access in the valley. (With GKNN Inputs)
