SPO shot dead by suspected militants in Pulwama

Pulwama: A special police officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir police was killed by suspected militants at Rahmoo area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

Official sources told GNS that the gunmen fired at SPO Showkat Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Ahsan Dar near Petrol Pump at Rahmoo. The incident took place at 9:35 AM in Rahmoo.

“Dar, who was posted at Police Lines Pulwama, was immediately shifted to the District Hospital Pulwama where doctors declared him brought dead,” they said.

SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam confirmed the incident and told GNS that police arep verifying the details.

Soon after the incident, a joint team of forces launched a hunt to nab the assailants, the official said. (GNS)
