J&K Deadlock: BJP bans party members from speaking to press

Srinagar: Right-wing Hindu nationalist has reprimanded its state unit in Jammu and Kashmir over issuing any statement to the press vis-à-vis the present deadlock and the formation of the new government, sources divulged.

It was informed further that ahead of the government formation the statements being issued by some BJP politicians in the state have been taken with the much serious note by the BJP high command and that it has been instructed to them not to issue any fresh handout over the issue till fresh directions.

The state is witnessing a stalemate since the demise of former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7, this year at AIIMS New Delhi.

The PDP President Mehbooba Mufti is expressing much reluctance in continuing the coalition, setting new conditions before the union government.

With the back channel talks gaining momentum between the BJP and the PDP to renter into the pact for the government formation, the BJP high command wants to maintain secrecy till a major breakthrough is witnessed.

Sources told KNS that the BJP high command has issued fresh instructions to its state unit, asking it not to issue any statement to the press which would hint at any latest development of the talks pertaining to the government formation between the BJP and the PDP.

Earlier, it was witnessed that some BJP leaders in the state issued statements which were contradictory in nature, resulting in chaos on the ground.
