Girl commits suicide after being raped by father in Bandipora

BANDIPORA — In a shocking incident, a girl (name withheld) has committed suicide after being allegedly raped by her father in Chaliwaan Chattybandi area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday.

Reports reaching here said that the girl committed suicide after she was raped by her father at her home.

Police after receiving complaint has taken the body to Bandipora Hospital for conducting post mortem and the accused father has been arrested.

A senior police officer while confirming the incident said that they have registered an FIR and the accused father has been arrested.

Case FIR No. 04/2019 U/S 506, 376, 306 has been registered in Police Station Aragam against the accused and investigation has been started in the matter. “More details will follow soon,” the officer said.

The incident has shocked the entire area with people demanding stern action against the accused.
