PULWAMA — National Conference leader Ghulam Mohideen Mir from Pulwama district accused the district administration of creating hurdles in their election campaign, which resulted in low turnout of voters in the recently held District Development Council (DDC) polls.

The NC leader, from Murran area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, alleged that the district authorities didn’t allow the parties to campaign, except some—a veiled reference to candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“Even the celebration of winning candidates was stalled,” he claimed.

About the demolition drive carried out in various areas of the district, he said, “The administration didn’t serve requisite notices to the people who were affected. This is unprecedented.”

“I am District President of National Conference. I have fought in elections and was MLA for six years but I have been denied police protection,” he said.
