JAMMU — Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party President, Junaid Mir on Friday met the Lt Governor of J&K UT and discussed various issues and sought redressal of the youth-related grievances at the earliest, especially the regularization of 1.5 lakh daily wagers.

“I raised various issues with the LG of our Union Territory and sought immediate redressal of the genuine grievances,” Mir said in a statement.

He said that the issue of NIS-trained youngsters who have been deprived of salaries and duties was also discussed. In this matter, LG has asked the Chief Secretary to immediately look into the matter and solve their issue at the earliest.

The statement said that issues of 1.5 lakh daily wagers were also discussed. “The previous regimes had played with their emotions and every time faked that they would resolve their issue. But today, I was assured by the Hon’ble Governor that every single daily wage will be absorbed so they can live their dignified life,” said Mir.

It was also discussed that road safety measures be taken to prevent the loss of lives. The issues of road macadamization throughout the UT was raised besides speedy completion of the Jammu to Srinagar National Highway were also discussed.

“Apart from the completion of National Highway and macadamization, I requested Hon’ble LG for the development of sports fields across the UT so that our youth could excel in the arena at the international level,” said Mir.

Pertinently,  various developmental issues pertaining to Pir Panchal range, Kupwara Tanghdar and Jammu were also discussed.

“It will be really a lifetime service towards people if the metro comes and in this connection, I was assured that developmental works will be speeded up and the metro line will be established. Besides the setup of IT industries which not only increase the economic value but also help in employment generation,” added Mir.

Meanwhile, it was also discussed that measures be taken to provide safe passage to the Kashmiris from Iran against the spread of Coronavirus in that country.
