Hajin Payeen gunfight leaves four militants dead!

BARAMULLA — An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said here on Saturday evening.

The gunfight started when security forces launched a search operation in Bajrang-Uri sector following specific information about the presence of some infiltrating militants, the officials were quoted as having told the news agency KNO.

They said the hiding militants opened fire on the security personnel, who retaliated, thereby triggering a gunfight.

Meanwhile, the Army’s Chinar Corps, in a post on X, said, “Based on specific intelligence inputs, an anti-infiltration operation was launched in the Uri sector. Contact was established with infiltrating terrorists and operations are in progress.”

On June 19, two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed while two security personnel were injured in an encounter that broke out in the Rafiabad area of Baramulla district. On June 17, a local militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Aragam Bandipora.
