PULWAMA — Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah (IAS) took over the charge as new District Development Commissioner Pulwama on Thursday.
Immediately after assuming the charge, the District Development Commissioner held an interactive meet with the journalist fraternity of the district. The officer was apprised by the journalists, mostly members of Pulwama Working Journalists Association (PWJA), about the issues and problems facing the fraternity.
Later, he held an introductory cum interactive meeting with all District and Sectoral level officers of the district. Apart from ADC Tral and Awantipora, Joint Director Planning, all District sectoral level officers and other officers of civil administration were present in the meeting.
While addressing the officers, the DDC reiterated his commitment towards good governance. He said that his administration would be responsive and accountable towards the people.
He enjoined upon all the officers to work in tandem and play their role in reinforcing the faith of the people on government institutions.
Calling good governance as a corner stone of public peace and prosperity, he urged upon the participants to work with dedication, commitment and integrity. He stressed upon bringing qualitative changes in governance and making government institutions visible.
The officer, while talking to the reporters, said, “Public service delivery is my priority and I will ensure that people see a visible change as far as public amenities like electricity, roads et cetera are concerned.”
He also made an appeal to the people to cooperate with the district administration so that the ideal of good governance is realized.
